BOOKING INFORMATION

(Click the + to expand the topic)
    • I book by appointment only as I work in a private studio.

    • After receiving your submission I will email you with an appointment follow-up where I will then confirm the design, and price with you before proceeding with the deposit.

    • Appointments are on a first come first served basis based on when I receive a deposit.

    • Upon receiving your deposit I will confirm the studio address along with any other information you need.

    • Clients waiting for a sketch will be contacted and shown the sketch the night before the appointment. Any additional changes will be made from there.

    • If you are a pre-existing or new client and have any questions/ concerns regarding your tattoo or appointment, please email me at: bookings@inksbymar.com

    • I currently charge per piece based on the design (level of detail, colors used, time it takes me to design), size, and placement of the tattoo as it helps my clients get an idea of the expected price beforehand without worrying about extra costs.

    • Certain placements may cost more than others depending on level of difficulty tattooing there + touchups required after healing (example: hands, feet, fingers).

    • My shop minimum is $150 for anything starting at 2 inches and $100 for 1 inch or less of a simple design.

    • I do not sell any designs at the moment but am open to selling flash designs in the future.

    • My primary languages are English and Chinese. I do not tattoo languages I cannot speak, read, nor write out of respect for other cultures.

    • I will not tattoo Chinese characters on someone who is not respectful or educated at least a little bit to the culture and language.

    • While I will never copy or tattoo another artist’s work, I always redraw my client’s design inspiration in my own style so every tattoo is custom made specifically for my client.

    • The only instances where I will tattoo the exact thing is if one of the following applies:

      • The artist has granted permission to have their design tattooed by more than 1 person and another artist (freebies or tattoo tickets).

      • It’s a drawing drawn for my client by someone else (could be commissioned or drawn by a friend/ family member, etc.)

      • Script/ fonts

      • Universal designs, characters, and symbols (example: Hello Kitty, anime characters, etc.)

      • Religious symbols

    • I draw all my designs the day before the appointment and show clients the night before.

    • While I do not charge for small additional changes, if I have to completely redraw the design or make a huge change I may charge an additional fee. Depending on what needs to be redrawn, rescheduling may be necessary.

    • I am open to coverups but depending on the tattoo you’d like to cover up, I may or may not recommend laser removal before getting tattooed.

    • There are also instances where I have blasted over tattoos without laser in the case clients cannot afford laser. When we do this some of the old tattoo may still remain or show but most of it will be covered up.

    • I require a $50 deposit through Zelle or Venmo in order to secure the appointment time.

    • The deposit counts towards the total cost of the tattoo and is insurance in case of last minute reschedules or cancellations.

    • I allow up to 1 free reschedule in the case of accidentally missing your appointment or emergency cancellations within a year.

  • TATTOO AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS:

    • Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo!

    • When you get home: remove bandage within 1 - 2 hours after getting your tattoo. DO NOT RE-BANDAGE. Your tattoo needs to breathe, just like an open wound.

    • Wash your tattoo with an antibacterial, unscented, liquid soap (soap bar alternative: rub it between your hands until foam forms and cleanse with the foam). Be gentle, do not use washcloth or anything that will exfoliate your tattoo. Only use your hands.

    • Gently pat your tattoo dry with a paper towel. Do not rub, or use a fabric with a rough surface.

    • On the first night, you may want to wrap your tattoo in saran wrap to prevent sticking to your bedding. Do not use any cloth bandages or pads, as the fibers of this material can adhere to your open tattoo and hinder the healing process.

    • The first 3-4 days: Apply a small amount of Aquaphor or A&D to your tattoo, avoid using an excess amount. Always use clean hands and do not place your fingers back into the ointment after touching your tattoo. Make sure to rub the ointment in so that it is not shiny, or greasy– you want the thinnest amount possible. Do not use Vaseline, petroleum, Neosporin, or Bag Balm. Cleanse, dry, and apply ointment 1-3 times daily, as needed.

    • Wear clean, soft 100% cotton clothing over your tattoo for 2 weeks– nothing abrasive or irritating. For a foot tattoo: go barefoot as much as possible but keep clean. If you must wear shoes, first wrap your clean tattoo in saran wrap, then cover with a clean cotton sock before putting on your shoe. Avoid sandals or flip-flops for this period to prevent chafing and damage to the tattoo.

    • After day 3 or 4: On the 3rd or 4th day your tattoo will begin to peel. This is normal! Do not pick at the skin. Begin using a mild, white, unscented lotion, free of dyes or perfumes like Lubriderm.

    • Use unscented lotion for a minimum of 2 weeks, 1-2 times daily after the tattoo has finished peeling.

    • Please use sunscreen after tattoo has healed.

    THINGS TO AVOID:

    • Do not pick, scratch, peel, slap, rub or irritate your tattoo.

    • You can shower, but you may not soak your tattoo for 2 weeks. No swimming, soaking, or hot tub.

    • You may not expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 3 weeks, after that you must use sunblock to avoid fading and any changes in the ink.

    • Do not wear abrasive materials, jewelry, or shoes that rub against your tattoo.

    • Do not workout within the first 4 days of getting your tattoo, avoid excess sweating.

    • Do not let anyone touch your tattoo unless they wash their hands.

    • Beware of gym equipment; sanitize it well before using.

    EXPECTED HEALING DURATION:

Day 1: Tattoo is an open wound, keep clean and moisturized.

Day 2-6: Tattoo might be oozy, pushing out plasma and slightly inflamed or even feel heat at times, this is your body’s natural response to healing. Continue keeping the area clean and moisturized.

Day 7-14: Tattoo will begin to scab or flakes might start peeling off. Don’t pick, peel, press, or mess with it! Continue keeping the area clean and moisturized. After the tattoo has finished peeling you may switch over to an unscented lotion such as Lubriderm.

Day 15-30: Tattoo might look faded or dull, that is because it is still healing. Continue moisturizing for the best look once it’s fully healed!
